House Nel Stellenbosch

The Client’s instruction to the Architect was to have the house built with natural materials that come from the area. His further instruction was to use concrete’s diversity as a building material.

World of Decorative Concrete, together with the Architect, decided to use river pebbles found in the area, as the concrete aggregate.

The use of different finishes of concrete, just once again made one realize how a valuable building material concrete is, as a decorative element.

The outside patios were finished by just grinding and acid etching the surface of the concrete.

Some of the interior concrete elements were finished with a wire brush finish.

The normal concrete ceilings and vaulted concrete ceilings were all finished with a sandblast finish.

It is not often that one gets the opportunity to play with concrete as a decorative building material and to showcase the value of this material.
