Architect’s Malherbe Rust was tasked with designing this modern home on the slopes of Paarlberg. They did an outstanding job in creating this modern home, yet it feels warm and inviting. With top quality finishes throughout the house, they create a stylish yet down to earth feel.
To fit in with the natural environment they decided to incorporate natural granite and concrete as building materials.
The use of Lafarge Artevia Polished concrete, especially on the outside patio and outdoor walkways, combined with natural granite blocks as as well as the clay brick borders surrounding the concrete, is aesthetic very pleasing.
The Architects decided on Lafarge Artevia Polished concrete as to guarantee a durable finish which is resistant to all the natural elements.
The entrance to the main house is impressive with the four polished concrete floating steps which are placed over a water feature that runs underneath the house and around the social spaces creating a cool earthy atmosphere. These steps were also manufactured out of natural concrete elements and thereafter it has been polished to ensure a high sheen. The polished concrete floating steps were installed by World of Decorative Concrete.
The garage of approximately 300m2 is also Lafarge Polished concrete. This finish also lends that extra status to the garage which places the garage in a completely different league.
The use of Lafarge Artevia Polished concrete puts this project on a whole new level with regards to durability, good quality finish and functionality.
